1-3-10 Writings

Eighth graders have been perfecting their writing in Spanish. They've been focusing on using proper punctuation, accentuation, and subject/verb agreement in the past and present tenses. Students wrote about their weekend activities for one, three and ten minutes. After each section, they rewrote what they previously wrote and added on to it. Writing in sections helps students transfer what they have in their heads to the paper much easier. They typically write more too, which was the case with the eighth graders. They were very pleased with their writing! Here are a few examples of their writing.

Scatterplots

Students gathered data on shoe size in relation to height for a class scatter plot. Using these data points, students learned how to make a line of best fit, write an equation based on the line, and use the equation and line to extrapolate and interpolate information.

8th Grade Garden 2014

8th Graders, I purchased the topsoil, the bone meal, the veggies, and they are all ready and waiting for you to plant them on Monday!

Can you recognize any of the plants?  They are all veggies that are hardy for the winter months!

2013 8th Grade Presentations of Learning

Here are some photos of the 8th grade presentations of learning held in December.  We celebrated their projects during the day as they were 4-month projects (or mini PLPs) due to our upcoming 2014 Capstone Projects.  The students learned about some interesting areas and taught me several things I did not know!  It was a great way to end our 2013 studies.
